Do we still need heroes. Expository Essay

Yes, we do need heroes. Heroes can help in different ways, like giving the society a sense of security, telling the people that they are not alone, and that there would be people that are there for them. Heroes can inspire the people, to help others. Heroes are also needed, as in this realistic society, no one is infallible, so support from one another is needed.

Heroes give the society a sense of security, by showing concern when people need them. For example, taking the example of Tom Robinson's case. Atticus shows concern to Tom Robinson by standing up for him and representing him in the case, despite people labeling Atticus as a 'nigger-lover". Atticus is thus shown as a hero, with a strong sense of justice in the book. This can be linked back to the thesis that heroes are needed.

Heroes also inspire the people to help others that are in need. For example, in the recent Japan Tsunami, there are shops that give and provide free food and daily necessities to help the victims. With one shop spearheading the mission to help others, others would naturally follow the trend and help out. This would continue to be a chain effect, and everyone would start to help one another. Once again, linking back to the thesis, heroes are needed.

Heroes are needed to help the individuals in this realistic society. In the current times, individuals are not infallible, and people tend to rise and fall. Giving an example, when that suffers from an car accident may be severely injured, causing the victim to be paralyzed. The victim may not be able to face reality. Heroes are there for them, to encourage the victims, and show love and concern. Showing them that life is to be lived to it's fullest. Thus, heroes are needed.

In conclusion, heroes are needed as they bring hope to the society, and inspire the people.

A manga series I recently read

A manga series that I have been and am reading would be Katekyo Hitman Reborn. It was introduced to me 2 years ago, right after PSLE as I had nothing to do. I have been watching the anime when I initially started this, but as the anime stopped, I continued 'chasing' it by reading the manga online. It has a good plot with a twist of events. But this is of course quite common in plots of adventure stories, when help always come in just in time. Overall, it is quite interesting. The latest chapter is 335, and this shows that this manga series has been on for quite some time.

Do we still need heroes?

Heroes, are always needed. In different kinds of forms. Heroes may exist among the typical citizens, helping others when they are in need. Heroes can be big characters like political characters, helping the country to succeed. Heroes, is a very un-defined definition. What are heroes? We do need heroes. To help us in our society, improving our living conditions. To help others when needed, for example to rescue a drowning girl. We do need heroes.

Heroes help us improve our living conditions. They can exist in the form of politicians, to make a certain country a better place. Or exist in a form of a charitable person, donating to help others. By doing so, heroes are helping. Thus they are needed and welcomed.

Heroes gives help when needed. When we see someone falling into a deep pool and is drowning. Heroes will be the one that will dive into the pool, making sure that the casualty is safe and sound. A hero may be one that helps others in different ways. For example, chasing after a robber to get back the loot for the victim.

In conclusion, heroes are needed to help us in different ways in this society.

Letter of encouragement

Dear Bob,

It is glad to hear that you guys survived the horrible incoming threat by Mother Nature. It must have been tough on you people. Having lost your families and friends through this natural disaster. However, life must still go on, do not be disheartened, but carry on living optimistically, standing and looking at things on the bright side. Losing may be difficult, but the ultimate difficulty is to overcome your barrier of thoughts. Others need your help! Instead, render your services to the people, and show them your love! The others that are still trapped in the terrible remains of the city needs your help! Think about the chaos there, help is definitely needed!
Another reason why you should never be sad, is to think about your family and friends. Do you think they would want to see you sobbing because of the loss of them, or do you think they would rather see you, facing life bravely, and not be a coward, trying and attempting to shut yourself out from reality? Of course they would want you to live on your life like nothing has happened before, facing it bravely, like a brave knight, staying calm and brave in spite of challenges that are in front of him. Overcome your psychological barriers Bob! There is always hope in life. Be resilient, do not fall and never stand up. But be a man that falls, but stands up again.

Hope that my encouragement helps!

Cheers,
Darryl

A english-language book that I read recently

The book that I just read is Cross by James Patterson. It is part of the series of Alex Cross. A detective. I enjoy the story plot that has been previously brought forward for 11 books, where Cross would be the 12th. The vocabulary James Patterson uses in his books challenges me quite alot. I had to check up the dictionary numerous times in order to understand. His sentence structure are also quite confusing, which means I have to take some time to analyze them. His chapters in the book frequently link with each other, back-tracking what I have read is like a habit when I read his Alex Cross series.

The link of his book is:

The most important or significant thing that you have learned so far from R&R exercises

I find that what I have learnt till now by doing all this exercises, is improving my reference skills to the lit book, To kill a mockingbird.

In the past, I was extremely lazy to go look for the different evidence in books, but with this exercises, I realized that my answers based on my own memory, and the short passage given to me, is totally not enough. By refering to the book, I do understand it better as well.

For example, in the R&R exercise 3, I did refer to the book for evidence in order to support my answer. This significantly helped me, I would not have been able to answer it just based on my memory, and the passage given to me.

Prejudice causing war

Prejudice, is one horrifying thing. I worries people. When one is discriminated, leading to the psychologically harm caused to him/her.  When the psychological pressure accumulates and reaches a state where it's uncontrolable. Ther person would natrually show displeasure through their actions.

An example of this is the American Civil War. When the southerns insisted on their stand of keeping the slaves, which the northen states greatly oppose of. The southern showed prejudice to the slaves as they thought that they would a higher level of people then the slaves, thus find that it was ok to make use of them.
